The appeals court will not take charge of the new case until mid-March in the case of Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, violating the Public Official Election Act.

The Seoul High Court decided to suspend the dividend by collecting opinions from other courts at the request of Criminal Department 6-2, which is in charge of representative Lee's case.

This is in accordance with a rule that allows the court to request the suspension of dividends if intensive hearings are needed, and the court will not receive new cases for about two months until March 12.

Earlier in mid-November last year, CEO Lee was sentenced to one year in prison and two years of probation in the first trial for violating the Public Official Election Act.

If the ruling is confirmed by the Supreme Court, the representative Lee will lose his right to run for president, and he will not be able to run for president.

Representative Lee is accused of making false information in connection with the allegations of preferential use of the site of the Korea Food Research Institute in Baekhyun-dong, Seongnam, with the late Kim Moon-ki, the head of the development department of Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, who was the Democratic Party's presidential candidate in 2021.
