According to the Jeonbuk Self-Governing Province Fire Department, a report was received at around 6 a.m. today (15th) that a fire appeared to have broken out in a fire boiler room in a house in Yongdong-myeon, Iksan.
The fire brigade, which was dispatched, concluded that the firewood boiler caught fire at dawn, but that the sprinklers operated automatically and extinguished themselves, considering that there were signs of burning the pipes and water around them.
This sprinkler was installed by the Jeollabuk-do Fire Headquarters in January last year with the support of the Korea Fire Insurance Association.
"Sprinklers have a great initial suppression effect," said an official at the Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters. "The fire could spread inside the house, but the sprinklers operated to protect precious lives."
