On the 13th, KBS disabled anchor Huh Woo-ryeong posted a video on his YouTube channel titled "An Unexpected Situation in All Gyeongju with a Guide Dog."
He visited a Daiso store in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, with his guide dog, White. At this time, Daiso employee refused to enter as soon as he saw Heo and the guide dog, saying, "We are not allowed to enter the guide dog due to safety concerns."
When Heo asked, "Isn't it irrelevant to safety and access to guide dogs?" the employee said, "We have to put other customers first," and urged them to repeat, "There are a lot of things here," and "I'm worried that Heo will fall."
He said, "Of course, we're going to go to another Daiso, but other guide dogs can come here," and Heo's companion explained once again, "It's up to us to decide whether it's safe or not," but the employee continued to be reluctant to let white people come in.
Later, a netizen said, "I filed a complaint with Daiso and received a phone call from the person in charge today," adding, "They say they will take appropriate measures."
Under the Act on Welfare of Persons with Disabilities and the Act on the Prohibition of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities, guide dogs for persons with disabilities can enter anywhere. If a disabled person accompanied by a guide dog refuses to enter public transportation, public places, or food hospitality business without justifiable reasons, he or she can be fined up to 3 million won.
