Last year, Incheon International Airport's international passenger performance achieved the highest ever since the opening of Incheon International Airport in 2001.

The Incheon International Airport Corporation said that Incheon International Airport's passenger performance recorded 7.66 million last year based on international flights.

This is an increase of 0.1% and about 90,000 compared to the previous record of 7.57 million in 2019, and an increase of 26.7% compared to the previous year of 2023.

The corporation attributed the increase to the increase in passengers during the summer season, Chuseok and year-end holidays, the yen's low, and the increase in passengers on routes to Japan and the U.S. due to increased demand for transfers.

However, total passenger performance in 2024, including domestic flights, was 71.15 million, below the 71.16 million passenger performance in 2019.

In terms of passenger performance by region, Southeast Asia accounted for 29.8% of the total, followed by Japan with 25.1%, China with 14.3%, and the Americas with 9.3%.

Last year, international flight performance recorded more than 408,000 times, up 2.5% from the previous record in 2019, exceeding the record.

International cargo performance rose 7.4% to 2.94 million tonnes compared with 2023, which the corporation attributed to higher e-commerce and overall cargo growth due to strong export performance.

The corporation forecasts annual international passenger performance this year to be about 73 million, up 3.3% from last year.
