According to the Korea Film Council's settlement data, the cumulative number of moviegoers between January and December last year was 123.13 million, down 1.6% from the same period last year.
According to the Korea Youngjin Commission, the absence of hits during the peak summer season and weak foreign currency affected the decline in the number of audiences for the first time in four years since 2020.
However, Korean movies attracted 71.47 million viewers last year, up 17.6% from the previous year.
The share of Korean films in total audience was 58.0 percent, up 9.5 percentage points from the previous year.
