This year, the 80th anniversary of liberation, the remains of five independence fighters buried abroad, including Governor Han Eung-gyu, who served as the Liberation Army, will return to their homeland.

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs reported this year's work plan to Acting President Choi Sang-mok at the 2025 meeting on major pending issues held today.

As part of the national unity commemorative project, the targets include Han Eung-gyu in Brazil, Kim Ki-ju and Kim Jae-eun in the U.S., Kim Deok-yoon in Canada, and Kang Sang in Kazakhstan.

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs has also decided to operate a public-private working-level consultative body to excavate the remains of Ahn Jung-geun.
