The Ministry of Strategy and Finance has banned cars and large home appliances from reselling them for two years and the rest for a year if they receive tax-free benefits from the company through a follow-up enforcement decree of the revised tax law.
Major conglomerates are offering discounts when purchasing their products in the name of employees' welfare, and the government has applied tax exemption to 20% of the market price or 2.4 million won per year starting this year.
For example, if an employee of an automobile company bought a car with a sales price of 40 million won for 30 million won with a 25% discount, the discount of 10 million won will be taxed, and the remaining 2 million won will be taxed as earned income.
The market price will be judged not by the amount of transaction with the employee, but by the normal transaction price with the general consumer.
