The government has decided that provisional anti-dumping tariffs are needed on Chinese stainless steel plates.

The Trade Commission of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy preliminary determined that the damage to the domestic industry was caused by dumping imports after a preliminary investigation into Chinese stainless steel flakes.

The Trade Commission plans to propose to the Minister of Strategy and Finance a 21.26% imposition of provisional anti-dumping tariffs to prevent possible damage during the main investigation period in the future.

Earlier, DKC, a domestic stainless steel company, applied to the Trade Commission for an investigation, claiming the damage caused by dumping imports of Chinese stainless steel flanks.

Chinese steelmakers are exporting their excess production to South Korea and other countries at low prices due to weak domestic markets.

Apart from this, Hyundai Steel has also applied to the Trade Commission for an anti-dumping investigation into Chinese back plates and hot rolled steel sheets from China and Japan.
