Russia says President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump can start talks by phone at any time, but are waiting for signs from the U.S. side.

Kremlin foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov told state media that Putin had repeatedly said he was ready to talk and was calmly waiting for the signal.

He also said Russia is ready to listen to the U.S. proposal and respond constructively, saying the newly-elected president or leader usually calls first.

He also added that there has been no contact between Putin and Trump to prepare for the meeting.
