As the 10-day-old U.S. wildfire in Los Angeles has overcome a high wind crisis, extinguishing efforts are also accelerating.

However, the risk of landslides has increased due to the collapse of houses, and strong winds are expected again early next week, making it too early to feel safe.

This is Washington correspondent Hong Sang-hee.

Malibu Beach, devastated by the Palisades wildfires in western L.A.

Houses lined up along the beachside road disappeared in no shape as if they were bombed.

Fortunately, the weak winds predicted this week are also speeding up the work to extinguish the Palisades and Eaton wildfires.

[Anthony Marrone / LA County Fire Chief: We expect weather conditions to return to normal this evening. Rest assured that firefighters are working around the clock to put out wildfires as quickly as possible.]

The spread has subsided, but it is too early to be relieved. The

U.S. Bureau of Meteorology has warned that wildfires are likely to spread again early next week as local gusts of Santa Ana rekindle.

[Kristen Crowley / LA Fire Chief: There is still a lot of dry, low-humidity, dry fuel left. There was also news that Santa Ana winds were likely to blow next Monday and Tuesday.]

Concerns over landslides are also growing in high-lying areas.

The wildfires that swept through the Palisades have collapsed houses on the hill, and as the ground weakens, the dried gravel is breaking down.

[Mark Festrella / LA County Public Works Director: We warn all residents. Wherever you live in L.A. County, if you have a slope behind your house or a house on top of it, the hillside has become very vulnerable.

As the flames began to be contained, discussions about reconstruction began.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom issued an executive order to restore wildfire damage.

L.A. County authorities have also said they will simplify the reconstruction process, but the damage is so severe that it will take a considerable amount of time to recover, with more than 120,000 homes burned.
