Arum (real name Lee Arum), a former member of the group T-ara, was sentenced to two years of probation on charges of child abuse and defamation.

On the 16th, the Ansan Branch Criminal Chamber 9 (Chief Judge Yoon Sang-do) held a sentencing date for Arum and sentenced him to August in prison with a two-year suspended sentence.

Arum was put on trial on charges of inflicting emotional abuse by swearing at her ex-husband in front of her children and defaming A by slandering her on the Internet broadcasting that revealed the court ruling against her boyfriend.

The court explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, "We believe that there was at least 'unwritten intention' because we did not make efforts to confirm the facts on unconventional content, and considering that he made remarks that did not match the facts and that they were made during Internet broadcasts that could be seen and heard by an unspecified number of people, we can admit that he had the purpose of slandering the victim," adding, "The fact that he was not forgiven by the victim was also considered unfavorable."

Regarding the child abuse charges, Arum was sentenced to eight months in prison and two years of probation in consideration of his admission of his fault, the fact that the victims were handed over to the current custody, and the fact that he had no criminal history. It also ordered the completion of 40 hours of child abuse prevention lectures.

The court also sentenced Arum's mother, who was charged with child abuse, to four months in prison and one year of probation. Arum's mother was put on trial from 2021 to 2022 on charges of leaving her grandchildren living in an environment where her daughter cursed at her ex-son-in-law at her residence.

Apart from the incident, Arum was sent without detention on charges of borrowing about 37 million won from three acquaintances, including his fan, in August last year and not paying it back. Police reportedly handed over the boyfriend, Arum's third child's biological father, to the prosecution as well, believing that he also extorted some money from the victims.

Arum joined the girl group T-ara as a new member in 2012, but withdrew in July of the following year. In 2019, she married a businessman two years her senior and had two sons. In December last year, he was in a divorce lawsuit and also made headlines by informing him of his boyfriend's existence at the same time. After that, he remarried with his boyfriend and reported his third birth in November, and is currently pregnant with his fourth child.
