Acting President Choi made the remarks at a luncheon meeting of the new executives of the 18th Korea Provincial Governors' Council at the Seoul Government Complex today.
Choi stressed the need for stronger cooperation between the central and local governments in various areas, including the recovery of domestic demand and the protection of local businesses and the weak at a time of high internal and external uncertainties.
Yoo Jeong-bok, chairman of the Provincial Governor's Council, said, "Local governments are in charge of practical administration and play a key role in maintaining a stable life for residents closest to people's lives," adding, "At this time, central and local governments should move forward together based on trust and cooperation."
