According to Indian media on the 17th local time, bull attacks caused a series of casualties at competitions held in various parts of Tamil Nadu the previous day.
Six of the dead were known to be the audience and the other was the owner of the bull.
In Tamil Nadu's annual January bull-taming competition, people often die or get hurt while holding the hump on the bull's back with both hands.
For this reason, animal rights advocacy groups have demanded a ban on the competition, which has been banned by India's Supreme Court several times in the past.
