It has been more than a week since the LA wildfire, but it has been difficult to determine the exact cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.
As a result of analyzing satellite images by a domestic satellite service company, it was confirmed that 35 times the area of Yeouido burned down in five days.

This is the Pacific Palisades in LA, USA, where a massive wildfire occurred.
Looking from the satellite, the spread of wildfires is changing from moment to moment according to the wind.
As a result of analyzing the European Space Agency's Sentinel 2 satellite images, it was confirmed that the forest fire was damaged up to 35 times the area of Yeouido in five days.
Strong winds and gusts were found to be significant in the rapid spread of wildfires.
In addition, satellite images also found the place that is believed to be the initial ignition point.
On the morning of the 7th, at the time of the forest fire, a large fire was seen near the left side of Sculloch in Topanga State Park in LA.
[Ham Seonjeong / Director of Telefix Image Analysis Division: In the case of monitoring through satellite images, a wide area can be observed, and not only images but also weather information such as wind direction and wind speed, information on nearby vulnerable facilities, and road conditions can be considered at once]
The Pacific Palisades area, which suffered the most wildfire damage, has seen wildfires spread significantly as the wind direction continues to change, especially on the 12th, when southwest winds blow, causing wildfires to move to the inland center.
In the future, depending on weather conditions, wildfires may re-spread into downtown L.A., so special attention is needed.
The domestic satellite service company expected to deliver the results of the LA wildfire satellite image analysis to the UN Disaster Risk Reduction Secretariat, and based on this, it will be able to calculate the scale of disaster damage or establish recovery strategies.
