A high-ranking official in the presidential office said in a statement to reporters after the arrest of President Yoon, pointing out that it is feared that it will undermine public trust in the fairness of the judiciary.
Although the official did not specify his name, it is speculated that he was targeting Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party, who is at risk of justice.
The presidential office is expected to hold a meeting of senior secretaries presided over by Chief of Staff Jeong Jin-seok at 9 a.m. to discuss future countermeasures following the arrest of President Yoon.
