Chinese video sharing platform TikTok has informed users that services in the United States will be temporarily suspended from the 19th local time.

TikTok has distributed notices to users in the U.S. through its app, saying it is "temporarily unable to provide services" and is "working to resume service in the U.S. as soon as possible."

Oracle, a U.S. software company that has managed TikTok's U.S. users on its cloud platform, is also preparing to shut down its TikTok servers from the night of the 18th.

Earlier, the U.S. Congress enacted the so-called "TikTok Ban Act" in April last year, citing national security concerns such as massive collection of Americans' personal information.

The law said TikTok's parent company ByteDance would ban new TikTok downloads as of Jan. 19 if it does not sell its U.S. business rights to companies in the U.S.

TikTok filed a lawsuit in U.S. courts, but lost one after another in the first and second trials, and a provisional injunction filed with the Supreme Court was also rejected.
