With the inauguration of the 47th U.S. president scheduled to take place on the 20th local time, only a few people will be invited to the inauguration ceremony inside the Capitol due to the cold wave, so most Korean politicians and business leaders who came to the U.S. to see the inauguration are likely not to be invited.

The inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump was originally scheduled to take place on an outdoor stage in front of the Capitol leading to the National Mall, but it was held indoors for the first time in 40 years due to the expected cold wave of the Arctic.

As a result, it has become difficult for the majority of ordinary people to attend the inauguration in person, except for the extremely limited number of people invited to the indoor inauguration.

"The Arctic cold wave is sweeping the United States, and I don't want to see people hurt," Trump said in a post on his social media (SNS) on the 17th. "So I ordered him to deliver his inaugural speech in the central hall of the Capitol along with prayers and other speeches."

It is the first time in 40 years that the inauguration of the U.S. president has been held indoors, following the inauguration of then-President Ronald Reagan in 1985.

Due to the change of venue, South Korean people who visit Washington DC to attend Trump's inauguration ceremony are likely to become "Nakdong River duck eggs."

Because of the limited space in the central hall of the Capitol, only a select few can attend in person, and there are hundreds of major distinguished guests such as Trump, key cabinet figures, politicians in the House and Senate, and past presidents.

Except for Ambassador Cho Hyun-dong to the U.S., who officially received an invitation as a representative of Korea, it is very unlikely that a South Korean official will be invited directly to the inauguration ceremony.

Earlier, it was reported that 220,000 tickets were distributed to Trump's initial inauguration ceremony in the Capitol grounds.
