Foreign Press Reminds of U.S. Congress Riots in Court Rampage

Major foreign media outlets around the world reported in detail that the violence of President Yoon's supporters at the Seoul Western District Court reminded them of the U.S. Capitol riot.

"When the court's decision to issue an arrest warrant was announced at around 3 a.m., supporters flocked to the building and overwhelmed the police trying to suppress it," Reuters said. "The video showed protesters spraying fire extinguishers at police guarding the entrance, entering inside and breaking office furniture and furniture."

AFP described the situation as hundreds of police officers were called to the court and arrested dozens of people, calling them "unacceptable illegal and violent acts."

The British daily Financial Times said, "President Yoon's hard-line supporters are borrowing slogans from supporters of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to stop the theft," adding, "This refers to the alleged fraudulent election of the 2020 U.S. presidential election that resulted in a parliamentary riot."

AFP also said, "President Yoon's supporters are justifying the declaration of martial law and advocating the slogan of 'Stop the Steal' by citing suspicions of fraudulent elections without much evidence. President-elect Trump's supporters stormed the Capitol of the Federal Assembly to overturn the election defeat."

Regarding the Western District Court incident, the Financial Times said, "President Yoon claimed that he was the victim of a conspiracy between the left and pro-North Korean forces and promised to fight until the end," adding, "South Korea's political crisis has intensified since the failed declaration of emergency martial law."

AFP also pointed out, "President Yoon delivered a message to supporters, including evangelical Christians and right-wing YouTubers, saying, 'Thank you for your hot patriotism.'

Reuters pointed out, "The high-ranking government official's criminal investigation office notified President Yoon of his attendance, but the "president from the prosecution" is not cooperating with the investigation."
