Jung Il-young of the Democratic Party of Korea, a member of the National Assembly's Strategy and Finance Committee, argued that a special tax investigation is needed, saying that the broadcast income of famous far-right and conservative YouTubers has more than doubled since the December 3 emergency martial law.

According to Chung's analysis of the YouTube channel analysis site "Playboard," the revenue of six of the top seven far-right and conservative channels, which had high broadcast income as of November last year, increased 2.1 times last month.

The channel, which had the largest number of subscribers with 1.62 million, earned more than 120 million won last month, up 65 million won from the previous month.

Lawmaker Chung said far-right and conservative YouTubers who spread false information and hate are generating profits by collecting donations from separate accounts in addition to broadcasting income, stressing that the National Tax Service needs to check whether taxation is justified.
