The NHRC said it plans to postpone the meeting scheduled for 3 p.m. today and reschedule it in the future.
The Human Rights Commission explained that the decision was made because there was a recent intrusion into the Seoul Western District Court and similar unrest was expected.
Earlier today, when news broke that the NHRC meeting would present an agenda urging investigative agencies and the court to guarantee President Yoon's right to defend himself, hard-line supporters of President Yoon predicted a gathering of the NHRC in online communities.
The NHRC tried to vote on the agenda on the 13th, but the meeting was postponed once due to strong opposition from civic groups and NHRC employees, saying that the content of the agenda constitutes a de facto defense of emergency martial law.
As the controversy continued, Monk Won Myung resigned from his position as a member of the five human rights commissioners who co-sponsored the agenda, and Kang Jeong-hye withdrew her motion.
