Bitcoin, a cryptocurrency market leader, hit a new high just before U.S. President-elect Donald Trump took office, approaching $109,000.
The price of one bitcoin traded on the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase early on the 20th of the U.S. Eastern Time was $108,943, up 4% from 24 hours ago.
Bitcoin has been soaring recently after reports that Trump will sign an executive order to put virtual currency on a policy priority shortly after taking office.
