Four years in prison for those in their 40s to operate an illegal gambling site worth 800 billion won.

The Suwon District Court sentenced A, in his 40s, to four years in prison and collected 23.5 billion won for operating an illegal gambling site worth 840 billion won.

The court revealed the reason for the sentencing, saying that A has committed the same crime in the past and that severe punishment is inevitable because of the large amount of criminal profit.

Mr. A was put on trial for operating a gambling site worth 840 billion won with accomplices across Seoul, Japan, and Hong Kong over three years from 2018.

During the trial, A claimed that he had never participated in the crime and made a false statement because he was threatened by the police, but the court judged that A was in charge of the overall operation of the gambling site.
