The KOSPI started at 2,530 on institutional buying.

The KOSPI opened 0.52% higher at 2,533.23, continuing its upward trend, rising to the late 2,540 level in early trading.

The KOSDAQ index is also on the rise, starting at 728.57, up 0.13% as individuals and institutions made net purchases.

Markets believe that the absence of tariffs in U.S. President Trump's first executive order has boosted investor sentiment.

In the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won-dollar exchange rate started at 1,437 won, down 14.7 won, and has been falling to the early 1,430 won range.
