At the New Year's greeting ceremony held at the Korea Science and Technology Center in Seoul today, Acting President Choi Sang-mok said he will implement this year's R&D budget of 29.6 trillion won without a hitch and build up next year's budget to open the era of 30 trillion won for the government's R&D budget.
"Just as the blast of the furnace should not be extinguished, support for science and technology should continue without wavering," Choi said. "We will boldly expand investment in key areas, including the three major game changers: artificial intelligence, bio, and quantum."
In particular, he added, "With the enactment of the world's second basic law on artificial intelligence, we will make all-out efforts to significantly expand AI computing infrastructure and secure key personnel and technologies to leap forward as three AI powerhouses."
