Four hospitals for large-scale diagnosis of infectious diseases, including Seoul National University and Severance, were designated.

In the event of an infectious disease crisis, four institutions have been designated as identifying excellent infectious disease pathogens: Catholic University Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, Korea University Anam Hospital, Seoul National University Hospital, and Severance Hospital.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention decided to establish such a system, saying that the establishment of a large-scale testing system in advance in cooperation with private medical institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 became the basis for the initial response.

In the future, these institutions will cooperate with the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to participate in infectious disease preparation activities such as simulation training and joint proficiency evaluation, and actively conduct tests in the field of pathogen identification diagnosis in case of crisis.
