The American Baseball Journalists Association (BBWAA), which selects the Hall of Fame inductee, announced the results of this year's vote on the 22nd (Korea time).
Ichiro won 393 out of 394 votes, winning 99.75% of the vote.
100% of the vote, and one vote was short of unanimous agreement.
In MLB history, only Mariano Rivera (2019), a synonym for closer, has been unanimously inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Ichiro played nine seasons with the Orix Buffaloes in the Japanese professional baseball league and signed with the Seattle Mariners in 2001 to enter the MLB.
He had 3,89 hits in 19 seasons in the big leagues alone, leaving 4,257 hits in his professional career, including the Japanese professional baseball record (1,278),
Along with
Ichiro, this year's Hall of Fame inductees are left-handed starting pitchers CC Sabathia, who has dominated the era, and Billy Wagner, the best left-handed closer of all time.
Sabathia won 342 votes, winning 86.8% of the vote, well over 75% needed to enter the Hall of Fame.
Wagner also met the criteria with 325 votes, 82.5% of the vote.
