Another South Korean national has been shot to death in the Philippines, bringing the total number of South Korean victims killed in heinous crimes in the Southeast Asian country to 11 this year.
The South Korean Embassy in Manila said the 57-year-old man, surnamed Cho, was gunned down in an attack by a group of four unidentified assailants who broke into his home in the central Philippine city of Malvar early Sunday morning.
The embassy has sent a consul to the area for a joint investigation of the case with local police. The police are looking into whether it was a simple burglary or caused by a business deal gone wrong.
South Korean authorities said they are set to send a team of police officers to Manila later today (Monday) to work with local police on the investigation.
