[K-SCIENCE] Amphibious Drone

A yellow drone is flying close to the water.

Then, the drone suddenly landed on the surface of the water and submerged into the water.

The drone also navigated under water like fish and took off from the water.

This is the amphibious drone developed by a team of South Korean researchers for the first time in the country.

The key to the technology used to build the drone is its fuselage which has the functions of a submarine.

A screw is attached to the tail of the fuselage which is waterproof and can adjust buoyancy.

The drone is capable of performing up to three meters underwater.

It can fly to its marine destination swiftly and explore and examine the aquatic ecosystem.

"The strong point (of the drone) is that it can conduct its observations not only in the sky but also on and under the water.

If the new drone is commercialized, the expenses for ocean observations will be reduced by as high as 99 percent.
