People's Power said it would come up with appropriate regulations to prevent the harm caused by the operation of algorithms by portal and platform giants.

In a speech at a forum organized by the party's "Portal Unfair TF," Han Dong-hoon said, "Experts point out that algorithms are behind online social media addiction."

He then pointed out that platform giants build algorithms, so-called "customized recommendation systems," to make users more dependent on the platform and addicted.

Representative Kim Jang-gyeom, who hosted the debate, stressed that the golden time to correct the risks should not be missed by discussing related legal and institutional improvement measures with experts.
