At around 2 p.m. today, a 12-year-old elementary school student A was reported missing after falling into the water at the beach at Ungcheon Hydrophilic Park in Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do.
Ms. A and two other teenage girls were found to have entered the water holding each other's hands and missing each other's hands to pick up the tubes floating on the sea.
The two who fell into the water together were rescued by citizens who came out of the water or passed by themselves, but Ms. A went missing.
Yeosu Maritime Police Station and 119 Rescue Team mobilized helicopters, patrol boats, and divers to search and found Miss A in the sea at around 3 p.m.
Ms. A was taken to the hospital undergoing CPR, but she was pronounced dead without being conscious.
The Coast Guard plans to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident against witnesses and others.
