Gwangmyeong City announced that the Gwangmyeong Haan 2 Public Housing District Damaged Land Restoration Project, including the "Yeongwon Waterside Park Creation Project," has been conditionally approved by the Central Urban Planning Committee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

As a result, the city's long-cherished project to create a waterfront park near Noonsa Reservoir near Yeongwon, which has been neglected as a fishing site for more than 40 years, has been a green light for the city's long-cherished project to provide a place for civic leisure, ecological learning, and rest.

Historic Site No. 357 Yeonghoongwon (永懷園), a state-designated cultural heritage, is where Min Hoe-bin Kang, the wife of Crown Prince Sohyeon, was buried during the Joseon Dynasty, and is located in Noonsa-dong, Gwangmyeong-si.

has long promoted a project to create a 121,80㎡ (about 36,000 pyeong) waterside park near Noonsa Reservoir, 500m away from Yeongwon.

Under the conditional approval of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the city plans to sign a business agreement with the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), a developer of Haan District 2, and then push ahead with the project to build a waterside park for Yeongho members in earnest.

LH is expected to pay 62 billion won for the total project cost.

Mayor Park Seung-won said, "We will make it a comprehensive park where you can relax at the waterfront park and meet historical facts at the cultural heritage site Yeongwon and return it to citizens' arms."
