Today (2nd), the KOSPI closed at 2,561.69, down 1.22% from the previous trading day.
This is due to the frozen investor sentiment as Iran's overnight shelling of Israel has raised concerns that it could lead to an all-out war.
In particular, as U.S. technology stocks plunged, Samsung Electronics' stock price fell below 60,000 won immediately after the opening.
It is the first time in a year and seven months that Samsung Electronics has recorded 50,000 units since March last year.
KOSDAQ also closed 0.23 percent lower at 762.13.
The local currency was trading at 1,319.3 won against the U.S. dollar as of 3:30 p.m., up 11.5 won.
