With cabbage prices soaring ahead of the kimchi-making season, the government will check the management of autumn cabbage through a growth management council.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said it will operate a consultative body involving the Rural Development Administration, local governments in the main production area and the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation until mid-December, when the autumn cabbage harvest is completed.

Nonghyup and wholesale corporations are supporting drug costs.

Since last month, Nonghyup has invested 600 million won to supply up to 30% off drugs and fertilizers to contract growers, and wholesale corporations in Garak Market, such as Daeachung, have also decided to supply 500 million worth of drugs to the main production area for stable production of autumn cabbage.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs expects the autumn cabbage cultivation area to be 2.7% less than last year, but if the crop is managed well, there will be no major problems in supply and demand.

As of the 4th, the retail price of cabbage was 8,848 won per waiver, falling to 8,000 won in about two weeks, but it is still 28% higher than last year.
