The Korea Exchange said the average daily transaction value on the KOSPI and KOSDAQ stood at 16.672 trillion won last month.
It was the lowest level this year, down 8 percent from 18.197 trillion won in August.
Analysts say this is the result of the stock market's weakness, with the KOSPI falling 3% due to sluggish semiconductor stocks, which have raised concerns about a "peakout" in which the stock price is slowing down after peaking.
It was also affected by the contraction of investor sentiment due to the gap in supply and demand due to the Chuseok holiday.
Average daily turnover also dropped to 1.02%, down 12% from August, the lowest level this year.
The lower turnover rate means investors have been less interested and the change of hands has not been active.
