Our military authorities have signed a contract with Poland to purchase a 'self-destructive drone' and have decided to complete the actual deployment within this year.

Small self-destructive drones have already emerged as an indispensable strategic asset in the modern war, and the speed of introduction has been accelerated due to the North Korean drone provocation.

Seok Jong-gun, head of the Defense Agency, and Poland's Deputy Defense Minister Powell Baida sat down in one place on the occasion of KADEX, an international defense industry exhibition held at Gyeryongdae in South Chungcheong Province.

It signed a purchase contract to introduce around 200 Polish self-destructive drones called 'Warmates'.

It is a drone that was deployed in the war against Ukraine, and it is a method of targeting the enemy by combining various warheads such as high bombs.

In the absence of a domestic self-destructive drone with proven actual performance, Poland's purchase of trillions of won worth of our weapons systems, including K-2 and FA-50, triggered the signing of the contract.

Small attack drones have already proved themselves essential strategic assets, neutralizing even the strongest tanks in the Russia-Ukraine war.

Against this backdrop, North Korea's disclosure of a self-destructive drone performance test in August was another catalyst for the introduction of a Polish-made self-destructive drone.

Korean defense companies, which have been focusing on developing large drones for surveillance and reconnaissance purposes, are also expected to diversify their development strategies.

Investments are expected to follow as the need for small self-destructive drones has been proven, with KADEX also introducing various drones heavily.
