According to the data received by Min Hong-chul of the Democratic Party of Korea from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, 52%, or 3,200 out of 6,270 reports of disturbances in real estate transactions from 2020 to July this year, were related to housing price fixing.
By region, Gyeonggi Province had the largest number of cases with 1,280 cases, with 590 cases in Seoul and 290 cases in Incheon, with 67% of all reports of house price fixing occurring in the metropolitan area.
However, since 2020, only 210 of the reported cases have led to police investigations, and only 13 cases have been finalized, indicating that the punishment is insignificant.
