Pastor Choi appeared at the Yeoju branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office today (3rd) for investigation on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act, saying that the prosecution's acquittal is not only a favor to First Lady Kim, but also a defense to the regime.
He then argued that the prosecution's judgment that the gift provided to Kim was not related to his job was not a legal interpretation, saying that the relationship should be viewed regardless of the result of the request.
In response to the prosecution's explanation that the incident appeared to have been carefully planned with intention, he refuted that the president's spouse was caught in the dark from the perception that there were many problems.
The prosecution, which has been investigating allegations of receiving luxury bags, yesterday indicted President Yoon Suk Yeol, Mrs. Kim, and Pastor Choi.
Regarding the alleged violation of the anti-graft law, the prosecution judged that it cannot punish Kim as there is no punishment regulation for spouses of public officials, and that President Yoon cannot be held accountable as the gift Kim received is only a means to maintain friendship.
