Israeli forces struck the center of Beirut, Lebanon's capital, early Thursday, killing at least six people.

The Israeli military said in a statement that it had carried out a precision strike on Beirut.

Citing sources, Reuters said Israeli airstrikes targeted buildings in downtown Beirut, which are closest to Lebanon's government buildings.

Lebanese health officials say at least six people were killed and seven wounded in the airstrike.

Three missiles were also dropped and loud explosions were heard in Dahiye, a southern Beirut suburb where Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah was killed last week, Lebanese security officials said.

At the same time, the Israeli military has strengthened its battle lines by sending additional troops to the northern Lebanese front.

The Israeli military released a video of soldiers operating under the title "Activities of 36th Division in southern Lebanon" and explained that 36th Division joined 98th Division, which entered Lebanon on the night of the 30th of last month.
