Reports say Israel is carrying out targeted airstrikes against Hashim Safiedin, who is said to be Hezbollah's new head.

According to CNN and Axios, multiple Israeli officials say Israel's day-to-day airstrikes in Beirut are aimed at Safiedin.

Axios reported that an airstrike targeted Safiedin on the night of the 2nd local time, and CNN reported that there was a targeted airstrike between the night of the 3rd and the dawn of the 4th.

Israeli officials say Safiedin was hiding deep in an underground bunker during the raid, and his death has yet to be confirmed.

Safiedin is the cousin of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike, and is said to be the man to lead Hezbollah.

Saudi Arabian media reported on the 30th of last month that Safiedin was appointed as Nasrallah's successor.

Safiedin has been a member of Hezbollah since it was founded, and the U.S. placed him on a list of specially designated international terrorists in 2017.
