On the 7th local time, a two-minute memorial siren went off in Israel just in time for 6:29 a.m. when Hamas' raid began last year.
President Yitzhak Herzog visited Lame Kibbutz in southern Israel, where the Nova music festival was held a year ago, to pay silent tribute and console the bereaved families of the victims.
The Nova Music Festival held here a year ago was one of the main targets of Hamas attacks, killing at least 370 people here alone.
Around the same time, in front of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence in Jerusalem, hundreds of hostage families gathered to protest.
Hostage families at the protest said the past year had been a nightmare and that Netanyahu should act to free the hostages.
Israeli local media say 251 hostages have been kidnapped by Hamas, and at least 33 of the 97 people still in custody are believed to have died.
