Samsung Electronics will release its preliminary results for the third quarter through the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system this morning.
Securities firms forecast Samsung Electronics' third-quarter operating profit to be around 10 trillion won, down more than 20 percent from previous expectations, citing falling demand for smartphones and PCs and rising inventories of non-memory semiconductors.
Samsung Electronics' common stock fell for five consecutive trading days last week, and yesterday fell to the 59,000 won level during the day.
