With the government pushing to introduce artificial intelligence digital textbooks starting next year, more than 7 billion won has been spent on repairing digital devices used in school sites over the past three years.

According to the data received by Kim Young-ho of the Democratic Party of Korea from the Ministry of Education, 166,000 cases of damage, breakdown and loss of digital devices distributed to schools nationwide from 2022 to August this year.

In addition, 45,000 of the number of damages and breakdowns were repaired for a fee, and it was estimated that the repair cost amounted to 7.1 billion won.

It has been confirmed that the penetration rate of digital device charging storage boxes for 3rd to 4th graders, 1st graders in middle school, and 1st graders in high school, where AI digital textbooks will be fully introduced in March next year, is only 72.3%.
