In the first year of the Gaza War, the crisis in the Middle East escalated and emerged as a last-minute issue in the US presidential election.

Vice President Harris stressed the importance of the ceasefire agreement, and former President Trump took aim at Jewish votes, arguing that Israel deserves to hit Iran's nuclear facilities.

To mark the first year of the Gaza war, Democratic presidential candidate Harris planted pomegranate trees symbolizing hope and justice in Judaism in memory of the victims.

He called Hamas' terror a "devil itself" and vowed to never forget the terrible 7th of October a year ago.

He also stressed that he would not give up the ceasefire negotiations.

[CAMALA HARRIS / US VICE PRESIDENT] We must strive to alleviate the enormous suffering of innocent Palestinians in Gaza, who have experienced so much pain and loss over the past year.]

At the same time, it promised unwavering support for Israel's security.

Republican presidential candidate former President Trump visited a Jewish holy site to commemorate the victims of Hamas terror attacks.

He focused on hitting the Biden-Harris government, saying that if he were president, the Gaza war would not have happened.

Israel, which was attacked by missiles from Iran, also angled with President Biden's position, saying it deserves to attack Iran's nuclear facilities.

[Donald Trump / Former President of the United States: I will support Israel's right to win the war on terror. And Israel needs to win quickly. No matter what happens, you must win.]

He also argued that no president has worked for Israel as much as he has, and that Jews should vote for him 100% of the time.

As the one-year-old Middle East crisis has emerged as an issue in the U.S. presidential election, competition among candidates targeting Jewish and Arab voters is also intensifying amid a tight race.
