Din Tai Feng, a Chinese restaurant franchise that made frozen dumplings without following food safety certification standards, was also fined in the second trial.

The Seoul Central District Court today (8th) sentenced Din Tai Feng Korea, who was accused of violating the Food Sanitation Act, to a fine of 20 million won, the same as the first trial.

Two executives and employees, including CEO A, were acquitted, and employee B, who managed the dumpling production, was suspended from fines, all of which maintained the first trial's ruling.

The court judged that even though the distribution of uncertified frozen dumplings decreased from the first trial, it was not a decisive factor enough to lower the sentence.

He also explained that it is not common sense that Mr. B, who is neither the president nor the representative, committed the crime alone, but the charges of Mr. A and others have not been proven.

Din Tai-feng CEO A and others are accused of illegally producing about 2.5 million dumplings in three and a half years after returning the certification of frozen dumplings' food safety certification standards in January 2016.

They were found to have committed the crime to save money as it continued to cost them to comply with certification standards.
