The Cheongju District Court sentenced a 48-year-old former head of a private company research institute to six years in prison.
The court said it is highly likely to be accused of stealing government contributions supported for the development of the country and considered the fact that the crime was committed over a long period of time.
Mr. A was put on trial from September 2014 to September 2021 on charges of fraudulently burning 3 billion won in government contributions from the Korea Industrial Technology Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy over 180 times.
In the process, it was investigated that Mr. A was issued a false transaction statement and a tax invoice to deceive him as if he had purchased materials necessary for research.
A 44-year-old B, who conspired to commit the crime with A, was also sentenced to four years in prison.
