Prosecutors have demanded a prison sentence for KAIST professor, who is accused of assaulting a driver in a taxi driving on the highway.

In a final trial held at the Daejeon District Court, the prosecution asked the court to sentence KAIST professor A, in his 60s, to one and a half years in prison.

In his final statement, Mr. A appealed for leniency, saying that he is regretting and reflecting on his daily life due to disappointment and self-destruction, and that he is staying away from drinking after the incident.

A was put on trial in December last year on charges of hitting a driver drunk in a taxi traveling from Seoul to Daejeon and assaulting a police officer who was dispatched.
