Hashim Safiedin, who was considered the next head of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, has died, Israel has officially announced.

Hezbollah was the first to mention its intention to cease-fire with Israel, but it does not seem feasible.

I'm reporter Jeong Yu-shin on the report.

On the evening of the 8th local time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared in front of the camera.

Hezbollah's next head, whose life and death have been uncertain, has died, it said in a statement issued directly in English.

[Benyamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel] We have weakened Hezbollah's capabilities. It has eliminated thousands of terrorists, including Hezbollah leader Nasrallah and his successor.]

Defense Minister Yoav Galant, who visited the Northern Command earlier, also warned Iran, saying Hamas had been disbanded and Hezbollah had become a leaderless organization.

[Johav Galant, Israeli Defense Minister] When Lebanon's smoke clears, you will realize that you have lost Hezbollah, Iran's most valuable asset.]

It did not specify who Nasrallah's successor was, but local media said it was referring to Hashim Safiedin, who was mentioned as the next head.

On the 27th of last month, Israeli forces targeted the Dahiye area outside the Lebanese capital Beirut and assassinated Hasan Nasrallah, who has led Hezbollah.

Nasrallah's cousin, Safiedin, was then mentioned as the likely successor, but his life and death were unclear due to further airstrikes on the 3rd.

Hezbollah did not elaborate on the life and death of Safiedin, saying the war made it difficult to elect a new head.

Instead, he said for the first time that he was willing to negotiate with Israel, saying, "Let's discuss the details first without conditions."

[Naim Qasem, Hezbollah Deputy Secretary-General] When a ceasefire is established and diplomacy intervenes, everything will be discussed and decisions will be made. There can be no talks without a ceasefire.]

After a week of limited ground fighting, the Israeli military has been deploying an additional division in southwestern Lebanon, increasing the level of its offensive.

He entered more than a dozen villages with Mercaba tanks and other weapons and tunnel hidden by Hezbollah.

Hezbollah also mobilized more than a hundred rockets a day to continue a fierce confrontation, and for the time being, it seems inevitable to expand rather than a ceasefire.
