The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office raided about 10 places, including former chairman Hong's home and Namyang Dairy's headquarters, and reportedly included the charges of violating the Food Labeling and Advertising Act and destroying evidence in the warrant.
Namyang Dairy's product "Bulgaris" was advertised in 2021 that it was effective in preventing and treating COVID-19, sparking controversy over false exaggeration, and former chairman Hong stepped down from his position.
In this regard, the prosecution reportedly took over four executives, including former CEO Lee Kwang-beom, from the police and continued the investigation, and found circumstantial evidence that former chairman Hong was involved.
As soon as the prosecution completes the analysis of the confiscated material, it plans to call on former chairman Hong to investigate whether he was involved in stealing company money or making false advertisements about Bulgaris.
