A wild bird feces collected from Mangyeonggang River in Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do, have been confirmed to be highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI).

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Environment said that a detailed examination of wild bird feces collected on the 2nd confirmed H5 type highly pathogenic AI.

It is the first time that high-pathogenic AI has been detected in a domestic wild bird sample in winter since it was last detected in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do in February.

Under emergency action guidelines, the ministry will raise the crisis alert level from "caution" to "serious," reduce the inspection cycle of poultry farms nationwide, and issue orders such as a ban on radiative breeding to strengthen quarantine measures.
