According to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA, Director Kim Sung-hee), this exhibition illuminates the title of the work. In the collection of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, it is designed to classify titles that visitors may find difficult, ask about the effectiveness of the title, and to illuminate the title in the realm of creation.
The exhibition consisted of four parts in total. Starting with "Prologue-Name's Art," which introduces the purpose and background of exhibition planning, 16 works of "Untitled" will be displayed in Chapter 1. Chapter 2 explores the semantic network of works and titles through symbolic titles, and Chapter 3, Sentence-This Is Not a Name, examines the contemporary characteristics of language and images.
The most characteristic space of this exhibition, the 'Name Game', is a participatory program created in the center of the exhibition hall. Each chapter (untitled, symbol, and sentence) is connected, and the audience can participate in the game freely. Participants can select the piece they want to rename and then follow the game's procedure to create a new name. The generated names are transmitted in real time to the digital proposition table attached next to the work.
Kim Sung-hee, director of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, said, "The Art of Name is a messenger that helps interpret the work, and it is an opportunity to newly recognize the title."
